City museum

Stadtmuseum Aue

The city museum is located in the former, but restructured "Huthaus" at the foot of the Heidelsberg. The building was errected in its original form in the years when the mining of tin in Aue first began. Tin mining in Aue took place from 1661 to 1810. Directly adjacent to the building there is a parking for both cars and busses. But the museum can also be reached from the city centre in the direction of S. Nikolai church or from the residential district "Eichert" within a few minutes walk.

Originally designed as a museum for the regional ore mining, the facility changed its profile in 1990.
From the mining museum "Traditionsstätte Erzbergbau", created in 1973, the city museum of Aue evolved.
